Microneedling
Book NowMicroneedling is a powerful skin rejuvenation treatment that uses ultra-fine, medical-grade needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin — stimulating the body's natural healing response and triggering collagen and elastin production. At Platinum Medical Spa, microneedling is customized to target fine lines, acne scars, large pores, and dull texture. It's a go-to for clients seeking smoother, firmer, more youthful skin without surgery or downtime.

Arrive with clean skin. Do not wear makeup, creams, oils, or perfume on the treatment area. Discontinue retinol, exfoliants, and active topical products 2–3 days prior to treatment. Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin to stimulate collagen production and enhance absorption of serums such as hyaluronic acid or growth factors.
Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning before treatment. Avoid sunless tanners for at least 2 weeks prior. Daily sunscreen use is recommended leading up to your appointment. Avoid recently tanned or sunburned skin to reduce the risk of complications and pigment changes.
Avoid NSAIDs (Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Aspirin) and other blood-thinning products for 3–5 days prior unless prescribed. Inform your provider of any medications or supplements. Treatment may not be suitable if you are on anticoagulant therapy or have blood clotting or platelet disorders.
Reschedule if you have active acne, infection, open wounds, rash, or cold sores in the treatment area. Inform your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have used Accutane within the past 6 months. Additional contraindications include: active rosacea or dermatologic disease, collagen vascular disorders, cardiac abnormalities, immunosuppression, uncontrolled diabetes or chronic illness, facial cancer, chemotherapy or steroid therapy, recent scars less than 6 months old, or recent Botox/fillers (within 2–4 weeks). Precautions include a history of keloid scarring, eczema, psoriasis, actinic keratosis, or herpes simplex.
Stay well hydrated. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment. Inform your provider of any recent procedures or skin treatments. If Microneedling with PRP is performed, your blood may be drawn, processed, and applied during treatment.
Inform your provider of any recent procedures, medical conditions, or health changes to ensure safe and effective treatment. Results vary depending on individual factors including skin type, medical history, and compliance with aftercare. No guarantee can be made regarding final outcomes. Individual results may vary. By booking or proceeding with treatment, you acknowledge that outcomes are not guaranteed and depend on individual factors, as well as adherence to pre and post care instructions.

After cleansing and numbing, a microneedling device is gently passed across your skin, creating precise microchannels that stimulate renewal. The treatment takes about 30-45 minutes, and most clients describe the sensation as a light prickling or buzzing. At Platinum Medical Spa, we often pair microneedling with medical-grade serums or PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) to boost your results even further. Expect some redness post-treatment — similar to a mild sunburn — that typically subsides within 24-48 hours.
Mild redness, warmth, and sensitivity are expected and may feel like a sunburn. Light swelling, dryness, or tightness may occur. Minor pinpoint bleeding or marks may be visible immediately after treatment. Other possible effects include itching, bruising, dryness, flaking, or mild crusting as the skin heals.
Do not wash or touch the treated area for at least 12 hours unless instructed. Avoid applying sunscreen, makeup, or skincare products during the first 24 hours. Gentle cooling may be used if needed. Avoid heat, sweating, and excessive activity during this period.
After 24 hours, gently cleanse with a mild cleanser. Use a gentle, hydrating serum or moisturizer as recommended by your provider. Avoid active ingredients such as retinol, acids, vitamin C (low pH), and exfoliants for at least 5–7 days. Do not pick or exfoliate the skin. Follow only recommended skincare products to support proper healing.
Avoid heat, saunas, steam, sweating, and intense exercise for 24–48 hours. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours. Avoid swimming and excessive sweating for at least 48 hours.
Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30–50+) after 24–48 hours once the skin has calmed. Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least 7 days. Wear protective clothing outdoors. Makeup may be resumed after 24–48 hours if the skin feels comfortable. Possible side effects include temporary or permanent pigment changes, cold sore flare-ups, infection, or rare scarring. For PRP treatments, bruising at the blood draw site may occur. Contact your provider immediately if you experience increasing pain, prolonged redness, pus, signs of infection, unusual swelling, or worsening symptoms.
Healing typically occurs within 24–72 hours, though mild dryness or flaking may last a few days. Results improve over time as collagen production increases. Adherence to aftercare instructions is essential for optimal results and to minimize complications. Follow-up treatments may be recommended depending on your treatment plan.
